About

SFS is widely regarded as Korea’s best international school. It is an IB continuum school for children aged 2-18 years and additionally the English National Curriculum is taught in the SFS British School from Foundation (age 3) to Year 9.

Inspiring Excellence, Building Character - since 1912

Seoul Foreign School is Korea’s oldest established international school, and was one of the first 10 international schools in the world. Founded in 1912, the faculty, staff, facilities and curricula offer an outstanding educational experience to children ages 2-18. The rich heritage of SFS is imbued with a passion for learning and dedication to the service of others. This unmatched educational experience takes place on a spacious, forested campus equipped with world-class facilities: an ideal environment for physical and outdoor learning experiences for children.

Early Years

The Seoul Foreign School Early Years philosophy is based on the values of social equity, interaction and inclusion, shared responsibility and relationships of mutual respect. The uniqueness of each child along with their individual growth and development are paramount. The Early Years team believes that play is the primary vehicle for a child’s learning and development. When combined with a collaborative environment, children gain a greater understanding as they share different viewpoints and experiences.

In the Early Years at SFS British School (3-5 year olds), the International Early Years Curriculum [IEYC] framework is an innovative, research-based international curriculum that captures children’s curiosity and leads to providing a culture that encourages rigor and a safe environment to express and explore new concepts.

In the Early Years at SFS Elementary School (2-5 year olds) the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme Units of Inquiry are incorporated into programs to provoke further investigation. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia project, this is integral to the curriculum development, education and care provision.
